I have been going to this place for several years now and it is awesome. having access to fresh cocoa and spices and basmati rice has changed the way I cook. I regularly use pinched basil instead of measuring. i brew my coffee with some cocoa powder to take the bitterness out and always make hot chocolate from scratch. great cheese selection and olives also. don't forget to stop at the great fish market next door

Amazing. AMAZING! For anyone who geeks out like I do over a really, really excellent specialty market, this place is for you! Ninth Ave. International Grocery carries a mind-boggling array of Greek and other Mediterranean products, many of which are also used in north African and Indian cuisine -- all in the space of a suburbanite's two-car garage. I picked up rosewater, carob molasses, dried figs, apricot leather / paste, excellent olives, and halwa -- at quite a reasonable price for midtown Manhattan. (I haven't been to Sahadi's or markets in Queens for ages, so it could be well priced for NYC more generally.) Also on offer: a huge array of whole and ground spices, sold by the pound and very well priced; large packages of minimally processed dried herbs (oregano, rosemary, thyme, sage, and other herbs); coffee beans and dried legumes; various hard cheeses, fetas, and sausages; house made Greek pastries; packaged pastries; packaged pita; something like 20-30 types of olives; olive oils and vinegars; dried fruit; dried pastas; house made Greek dips; cans and jars of vegetable spreads, preserved vegetables... and that's probably only the half of it! I was like a kid in a candy store taking it all in. The staff (which included the owner on my visit, I believe) were awesomely helpful, kind, and friendly. Despite the varied inventory, the store is well organized, very neat, and very clean. It's a bit of a stroll for me from my office, but on a nice day, that stroll is a pleasure. It's quite obvious that Ninth Ave. International Market is going to be in regular rotation.

I had searched for Greek Feta Cheese (Dedonia) and this was the ONLY place in all of Manhattan that had it. They have the freshest foods. The three guys who work there are excellent in service and knowledge. They have all been there for the over 20 years I have been going there. I am so grateful I found this place. THE BEST.

I was glad to see that this place survived Covid. Tucked away behind Port Authority this is a great place for reasonably prices ethic spices and items like grains, beans, olives and cheeses and pitas. Sadly because of covid the bins of spices/dry goods are shrouded in plastic . Their hummus, spinach pie and cheese baklava are amazing as well

Passed by this place a few months ago, and looked it up on Yelp. Saw that they sold spices by weight for seemingly cheap. Decided to check it out while I was in the area the other day. Needed a couple of spices, and the minimum is 1/4 lb. The prices were excellent. Cheaper than stores for sure. 1/4 lb worth of spices is basically equivalent to a bit more than two standard spice bottles from supermarkets. I shared half with my cousin, and still have a bit leftover after filling my spice jars. It's basically double the product for less than half the price. Pretty crazy. Also got a slice of the spinach pie for $4. Also a good deal for a hunky piece of spinach pie. They have plenty of goodies from around the globe. What a neighborhood gem. Will absolutely return!

One result of the pandemic is that I'm more Manhattan centric. This store is like many old school stores in the boroughs except it's in Manhattan. The store is very special! They sell great imported and ethnic foods Delicious olives and spreads coffees and a wonderful variety of olive oils plus spices and more with amazing service The tzatsiki and taramasalouta were delicious and these kind of businesses are worth saving and patronizing. A true Manhattan gem!
